Um, yeah. I warned you, right?

We got in pretty early on Saturday, enough to hit a few shops and then check in to our incredibly sexy house, where we had graciously been invited to spend the weekend (you noticed that house, right? Rockreach House? If not, don't worry. I will do a follow up post on it). The house was on whoknowshowmany acres of private land, so after we had soaked in our built environment we went on a little sunset cruise to explore the surrounding natural environment. We collected ditritus (thanks for the vocab, Britty) to help set the next nights' dinner table. Not pictured are epic battles in Taboo and Apples to Apples, and a Saturday night trip to Pappy's where we heard a band called The Country open with a cover of Are You Ready for The Country, which was actually quite cute (so on the fringe of not being cute). Sunday (my birthday!) we tromped around the park, and came home to prepare an amazing meal. Served on Heath dinnerwear. Yep, the house is stocked with Heath. Happy Birthday to me. I might have a group photo to share, except when we asked a man in the park very sweetly "Would you mind snapping a quick photo of us?" with the camera held out, I was answered, with not as much as a glance up, "Not right now." We were so tempted to wait 20 or 30 minutes and walk back by him, "Is now better?" We are pretty sure that was the first time ever in history someone has declined to take a photo for someone else. Oh well. He didn't know it was my birthday.

  3. Corner booth at Crossroads! Tortuga melt! Cheesy Navajo rugs at Wind Walkers! Behind Tawnja's at the new Ricochet! Pencil cholla! THE PARK! PAPPY'S! HOME!!!

Seriously. If I weren't so well caffeinated I'd prally cry just a little. Looking at these pics of you guys in JT is like a shot of awesomeness tinged with homesickness straight into my heart.

But mostly awesomeness. Esp. the gorgeous portrait of you in profile with your BELLEH. xo.

(and PS Ben is such a super-champ for being the lone fella with all those girls. Although it doesn't look like he's complainin')

  4. You ladies are probably the only people who can make heeled boots look like the only possible footwear anyone could consider wearing into the desert. Well done.

And I second all before me in saying that pregnancy never looked so good.

  13. happy happy birthday. looks like an incredible weekend and as always your photos are lovely. Also you make me feel a bit guilty for living in California for 15 years and never venturing out to the desert.... adding that to my must do list. right now.

  14. *sigh* so jealous.

i still find it hilarious that he declined to take a photo. i would have been inclined to wait and ask him later, just to freak him out a little.

  17. Deserty awesomeness. Twice as appealing if you live in snowy, really-really-cold Sweden.
Today it took me twice as long as normal to get to work because of mad traffic, lots of snow and the road being polished ice.
    Sand seems much nicer.
