I am so bad at reporting back. Finally, here is our new dresser, and in-progress room. Shall we review the plan of attack?

*GET A *DRESSER
*hang the lampshade acquired from mom -I hung it to see how it looks, but I have not actually bought a light for it. Maybe I should uncross it?
*arrange for the nightstands that I started crafting YEARS ago to finally be completed
*curtains, have made-In progress
*repurpose furniture into other parts of the house -If you count dumping it all into the spare room repurposing
*deal with bedding -I found those cute throw pillows and am satisfied. *
*paint walls -still cannot decide if we want a dark grey wall. The one the bed is up against. We really like a light bedroom, so.
*update wall decor -The dresser wall looks good, I think, but I will update the rest after the painting.
*deal with the mirror situation -we really need a floor length one.
*new tend for the dresser top
*decide about the pink thing -it went into the "office" room, no more pink in the room!

*the day after the rad dresser was secured Britt & Carinna and I went to heaven, also known as the yard sale of a mid century collector. I scored so much rad shit for nothing, including 2 of those pillows. The other 2 I found the next week at the swap meet. Also purchased was that hippie wall hanging thing. I still can't decide how I feel about it. Ben's only comment is that it reminds him of his home when they lived in Tucson. (aka the 70's) A sentiment corroborated when I saw something similar hanging in the backdrop of one of my family photos.

In case you missed it, the pre-new-dresser room is here.

  2. Holy bedroom makeover! It looks amazing. Reminds me so much of all my parent's friends houses (um, mostly literature professors/guitar players) when I was growing up.

I can't believe you found a yard sale of a mid century collector! Major score. That almost never happens.

  4. Love.

I'm so jealous! I never find good yard sales and those pillows are so killer. Swap meet you say? San Diego way...I may need to check that out.

Also, I've been hunting for a wall hanging just like that - I LOVE it. The whole feeling is very calm and warm and textured. AMAZING.

  7. I should clarify. It was a yard sale, but it was an advertised one. The guy went on craigslist and said "i collect mid century stuff, and am having a yard sale to clean house" so it wasn't like I just stumbled on it. :)

  8. oh, what i wouldn't give for pets who ignored tasty spiky plants! (i could never get away with the orb that's close to the floor, but your hanging ones might be the solution to my little-amateur-gardeners problem.)

the pillows are rad. that's right, i said rad.

  9. Tee hee. We have the same dresser. (Except mine has less lovely wood and so got lacquered white within moments of setting its spindles in my house. This happens in my house.)

    It looks marvelous, my dear.

  18. Your bedroom looks beautiful, dear. I love the white walls (I mean, I know you're thinking of painting, but I do love them white - there's so much texture in all all your beautiful choices, that it works), and all the warm wood tones, and the plants, and the cozy Siamese cat... ;)

I love it all. It's just beautiful.

  19. but but. I was only going to paint the one wall grey. I like most of them white, but they have not been painted in about 7 years and they are dirty. So, new coat. But the wall with the bed? That one that has less going on? Leave it white too?

  21. I love that dresser. Is it new, from a store? Where did you find it? I love the Anders dresser at Room & Board but don't have the $2600 it takes to bring it home.
