[Ben Left & his doppelganger, Dorian]

Hey Kids. Been a little [lot] silent, round here. One of our closest friends suffered a really serious brain injury almost two weeks ago. [Fell and hit his head in just the wrong spot while skating with his dog.] Needless to say it has been a terrifying and draining couple of weeks. We're spending all of our energy thinking positive thoughts***, supporting Dorian's wife Aimee in any way she will let us, and really just trying to keep our composure while doing things that seem so unimportant, like work. [Let alone posting to my blog.]

He's not quite out of the woods, but for the last couple of days he has shown some fantastic and really encouraging improvements, and we are all hopeful that very soon we'll have our [very bruised up and undoubtedly disoriented] friend back. We all miss him so much.

So, until things are less scary, expect that I won't be around. But, soon. Really soon.

***It seems, much to my surprise, I needed a lesson in believing in the power of positive thinking. [Surprise, cause I always though I was kind of a hippie deep down] It's just SO HARD when you are terrified for someone's life. But, I am getting better. In that spirit, good thoughts please! xo

  4. I am so, so sorry. If you need any information at all on brain injury, or just someone to commiserate with, feel free to drop me an email. I have read approximately twelve million books on brain injury this last year. I could recommend some titles for your friend. This is going to be a long road, with lots of ups and downs, but there is a lot of hope.

How brutal. The mister has two brain injuries in his family and it is a hard, hard thing to go through. I am glad to hear your friend is doing better; sending you all good thoughts.
