If you follow me on instagram you might have noticed I have been a frenzy of cleaning out the shed. Making room for exciting things here, people! I try and purge the closets and drawers of unused goods on the regular, but having lived in the same place ten years, stuff has been adding up. And ever since Henry has been born (taking up way more space with all his STUFF than anything else), literally every usable inch of our house has something in it. If I bring home something new, there is no where to put it. It is an issue.

Anyways. How cute is my old denim jacket? I had to stop wearing it when the sleeve (as pictured on the left) disintegrated and my tailor took one look at it and shook his head no. I have finally resolved the fact that I will never be a seamstress. And even if I do learn to sew (ahem), I don't need this jacked. BUT THE EMBROIDERY! SPARROWS! Should I like, cut them up and frame them?

And below we have.... my prom dress. Which (if you will notice my hand on the left) almost fits. I fucking love this dress. But where on earth will I ever wear it again? What is a girl to do?

  6. i'm a firm believer in keeping fancy dresses. like all fancy dresses one EVER buys. except for my wedding dress. but i really couldn't ever wear that again. you just never know when you'll have an impromptu black tie event ... or something like that.

also i'm not sure i'd be able to part with that jacket, even if i knew i'd never wear it again.

  7. I agree with keeping fancy dresses. You never know when you might need one.

What about making the jacket sleeves elbow length with a roll edge?

Do not get rid of that dress! You love it and its fantastic! I am 100% sure there will be a time that you need a fance dress and you will wish you had it. If no to the vest, take it to a alterations place and see what they can do. If its not worth it then get rid of it.

  14. Keep the dress. What if you have a daughter sometime? What if H has a daughter? How cool would it be to give them that dress? Like, Pretty In Pink cool. That's how cool.

  16. Surely you can find somewhere to wear that dress! Make up an event! Just don't get rid of it!

  17. Keep that dress. I agree with alissa. I would have loved some of my Mom's stuff. She was sentimental about things I could careless about. Even if you don't have a daughter... maybe a niece?

  18. I'd cut the sleeves off the denim jacket and wear it as a vest!
Oh and I wish my school formal (prom) dress was as stylish as yours...

  24. my dad had an equally rad embroidered jean jacket back in the day, and when it too started to disintegrate my mom cut out the embroidered panels and sewed them onto a new jacket.

  25. I have an old Levi's jacket that had oddly long sleeves, so I cut off the cuffs and just rolled the sleeves up below my elbows; it makes a nice cuff that isn't too bulky. Really, just try something, because that jacket deserves to be worn!
