Guys! We went camping. We found a nearby campground, (with water!), a few families who wanted to join, and went for it!

Remember that time when we went camping in Joshua tree and I forgot the memory card to my camera?

Well this time all I brought was my film camera, and the battery died. I was devastated. And the other difference is that instead of an instax, all I had was my iphone. Oh well. Thank goodness for Instagram.

It was the perfect tester. Just under an hour away, for one night. Henry did great. He was just the same as usual. (I think he is little enough that home is wherever we are, you know?) We were joined by this rad family and this one. The kids loved playing in the swimming holes. Of course, one night wasn't enough.

  8. So glad to hear you had a great family outing, looks beautiful! I also want to know where it is... I moved back to LA recently and I'm dying to know of a campground with water, this looks perfect. Have you already camped at Palomar, it's completely ideal, but no water like this.

  9. okay, so did he just sleep in the tent with you? But he normally sleeps with you, right? I'm trying to figure out the port-a-crib at the campground thing. We don't have a big family size tent, only backpacking stuff, (which we obviously will not be doing for at least a decade), so do we just put him OUTSIDE the tent in his bed? That sounds weird. Maybe we get either a family tent or a phil and teds baby sleep tent. These are major concerns of my life right now. Because I REALLY miss camping.

also, it's pretty amazing you can take photos like that with a phone, isn't it?

@celia - go in the spring if you can before the rainy season! Summer is very rainy in CR, from what I remember. Feb/March was perfect last year. And you can totally go with Cheech!

    1. What is this magical campground with igneous rock swimming holes?
    2. Do you know Amanda over at Maebird? She and hubs are hardcore baby-campers, and she's a dreamboat. You might love her blog if you don't know it already. http://maebird.blogspot.com/
    3. You and ben are, officially, the hippest parental units in greater Southern California.
    4. Once again, pics of Hank make my maternal instinct biological clock thingy kick into high gear. SO. CUTE.

  11. AH! ... I just saw Lilly's comment. How incredibly SWEET!! I came here to ask the same #1 question -- Where is this amazing place?! ... I created another blog just about camping (Papas Poncho) and it's a little goal of ours to camp at as many places as possible in southern California.... that's where you are, too? Any place with swimming holes is a major PLUS+!
