You are as funny as John Stewart.

“I look at these people and can't quite believe that they exist. Are they professional actors? I wonder. Or are they simply laymen who want a lot of attention? To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. "Can I interest you in the chicken?" she asks. "Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it? To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."
- Author David Sedaris, on undecided voters

Thanks for getting political, Guilty.  And hopefully, it is less than half of
"a whole nation - [who] could even consider voting McCain-Palin"

  1. David Sedaris is my love. I hadn't seen this quote, and I'm so excited that he had something to say about this.

  2. Yes, he is most hilarious. And smart. And small.

I am in this phase in which, because I work at home, all I do all day (take this very literally) is sit at my desk, tasking, and listening to This American Life. I just listened to a really good one from 2005 in which he talks about his life in Paris. Really, really good shit.

  3. Tell me about it. I have listened to damn near every TAL while building models or working on presentations or doing mindless AUTOCAD. Is it the one where he gets mistaken for a french thief by a crumby American tourist? That one is. the. best.

Also- we saw him speak/read recently and he talked about how he gives preferences to certain individuals with random physical characteristics priority at book signings. Small men being the current one. We were bummed that the venue we saw him at was too big for him to do so, cause Ben Left is pretty much as small as him!

  5. peony i am totally jealous of all of the material you have yet to read [or better yet listen to on road trips- he does all of his own narration and his voices and impersonations are *insane*]

also, I would like to suggest you read them in chronological order. since he writes in kind of a chronological order.
