I am completely addicted.

I used to be a total film purist. I used an old minolta SLR that my mom purchased during a photography craze in the early eighties that she passed on to me when I was in jr. high. I loved it. But when I started studying architecture, I reluctantly moved on to a digital SLR, needing to be able to go and shoot 200 pictures of a site and not think twice about the cost and waste of film development [but still wanting quality control beyond a point and shoot].  This has been more or less fine, but my heart has never been in it in the same way.

Lately I have been especially nostalgic for the good old days, cross-processing, dianas, polaroids... I had been scheming about how to give the images for my thesis this year a low-fi aesthetic [without breaking the bank].

Low and behold I finally learned about photoshop actions. Awesome.

You do a google search, download free software, load it into photoshop, and hit play. viola! so easy.

I took these today at a local house I studied [Casa Familia] with my digital SLR and then used this polaroid action.  I am in heaven.

  1. You're a genius! Last week I kept trying to do a search for a photoshop feature like this and couldn't come up with anything. I can't wait to get it on my computer and play around with it.
