We almost didn't have any favors. We have really tried avoiding any elements of this wedding that would be terribly wasteful. I would often ask myself before choosing to use a product, item, element, or whatever..... What will happen to this when the wedding is over? Will it be used again? Will it go to a landfill? Can I buy this used? Can I rent this? Can I sell this after the wedding? Can we or someone we know help us make this? Luckily much of this applies to financial and physical waster, both things we wanted to avoid.

Luckily these little cuties met our criteria!

They are vintage hankies bought used on ebay and etsy. We printed them with a little motif from our wedding invitations, swapping out our initials for the word love.

This was our first go at printing on fabric, and the small detailed vignetting and the date around the block letters came out a little muddled. Since we didn't have much time for experimenting we simplified the second batch to only include the word love.

We then attached names to them, folded the, bundled them up by table, and they will be at the place setting, as name card. Fun!

  2. oh wow! these are amazing! what a great idea. i'm with you on the wastefulness of so many wedding "essentials." but a little work of art like your hankies will be so appreciated by your guests. i think we're making homemade cookies for ours.

  6. I have been trying to apply the same thought pattern to my own favors. I think that you might not have a ton of luck with the males, but the ladies will swoon. You can't win them all.
