Girls Room

I don't think I mentioned it yet, but one of my favorite ladies? She made a movie. Really. And it is showing tonight, next Monday and next Thursday at the 2011 Vancouver International Film Festival. Are you in Vancouver? Please go for me. I wish so badly I could be there. I haven't seen the short yet (dying to) but I hear it might play well with some beloved high school movies.... (you know, Dazed and Confused, Breakfast Club.) What's better than that?
Cancer really fucking sucks. So does the US health care system. Unfortunately, Kate Miss + her boyfriend Will Steinman are experiencing both of these tragedies first hand. And so for now, a fundraiser. I will be picking up this mountain print for our house to help out (and hey, cause it is AWESOME!). Do take a look in the etsy shop and see if anything catches your fancy, if you are able to? Wishing you two an ocean of strength, Kate & Will. ♥

Thank you for your kind words yesterday. In return I offer you delicious food. Our neighbor has a fig tree which hangs over in to our yard. One summer, I ate so many that it hurt my mouth. (Has that ever happened to you? What gives.) And so last summer, like a child, I was afraid of them. Before the last ones rotted away last week I went and picked a few, and we have been eating delicious flat bread + fig pizzas.

The one above is simply; salt + pepper, oregano, sheep feta, olive oil and figs. Last night we also added; sauted onions, fresh thyme, and fresh arugula. I think I like it simple better. The sweet and savory and salty are soooo mouthwatering. I was also pleased to see Mark Bittman was having the same meal as us. (Pats self on back.)

(heading to farmer's market)

(at the station during the walkabout)
(practicing sitting up. with blocks.)

(being adorable)
(tasting my hair)
(bath/swim)
(tasting dad's hair)

(dinner time)

How do I get back to taking photos of things that are not my baby? This is not a rhetorical question. Those of you that have been there and come out of it alive, advise?

The weather was beautiful this weekend. Saturday Henry and I had fun in Golden Hill & South Park; at the farmer's market, then playing in a little park, then watching the tour de fat bike parade go by (while feeling wistful that my best friend's marching band wasn't performing at it this year). That evening we walked to the Station and ate dinner, then cruised around the quarterly walkabout with some friends. Yesterday I pretty much battled getting the laundry folded all day. But we managed a trip to the park at the end of our street (H is just starting to enjoy it, swinging on our laps, putting his feet in the sand, and laying in the grass, looking up at the trees) and a pretty nice little dinner before the baby even went to bed. Notice his arms full of toys. Put three in front of him and he has the need to clutch them all tightly to his body. Hm.
