These photos from globetrotter diaries have me drooling all over my desk. When I was a teenager in Las Vegas we used to have the best South Indian place. The Dosa Den was a total hole in the wall but f*ck they made the best dosas. And there was another dish that was to die for. But I have no idea what it was. They closed down years ago (like, 10?) but oddly a google search pulls up many references. Which makes some small part of me wishfully think they are still out there, somewhere.
I haven't found a dosa that compares yet.
I hate unrequited food cravings.

ReplyDeleteI would recommend Banana Leaf in Hillcrest...if their food was as good as I'd hoped. :/ BUT...you might like it more than I did.

My craving of the day is a banh mi from K's Sandwiches.
Next time you're in NYC, Hampton Chutney is pretty dang delish.

Augh! Unrequited food cravings are the worst!!!
ReplyDeleteHurry, go to little India now on Black Mountain Rd: http://www.suratifarsan.com/ ......you will NOT be disappointed, promise.
ReplyDeleteI make sure I'm hungry on the UWS or Soho so I can stop in at Hampton Chutney.
ReplyDeleteincluding a tweet, that makes FIVE for hampton chutney... ;)
ReplyDeleteMy fiance is south indian, so i'm used to his mother's world-class dosas, but the only acceptable subsitute is Paru's in Hollywood. Definitely check it out. You won't be disappointed (and the decor is amazing too)!
