It was a stormy weekend in Tucson, and we didn't get out much so I don't have a lot of pictures to share with you. When we did get out, mostly it was to eat. We ate at Maya Quetzal, El Charro, and Yoshimatsu. We got beer from Plaza liqour store.* We had sandwiches and took dessert for later from Beyond Bread. We also ate at home, where Ben's mom prepared one of the pasta dishes she made for our wedding. (Yes, she made, with help, the food for our wedding.)
I took a lot of cheesy self held pictures of me and Ben. (Often the only way I appear in images.) Ben's mom's cat, Sam, kept us company while we were away from Manray. Ben's step brother gave us a great wilco poster for our collection that was hand pulled for a Tucson show by a friend of his. I even managed to get a pretty good group shot while out walking around after lunch on Sunday. Maybe I should photoshop out that god awful parking structure in the background?
*At one of our last trips we were eating dinner at Yoshimatsu, a RAD Japanese place right by Ben's mom's place (yes one of my favorite places to eat in Tucson is a Japanese place), and Ben's mom said she wanted to take us to the liquor store next door, they had a good selection. Holy Sh*t. This place is amazing. We have nothing like it in San Diego. Even though we are thriving little beer hot spot** (30th Street, within walking distance of our place has an excellent pale ale by Green Flash named in it's honor, it is so beer worthy.)
**did I just link to MEN'S Journal???
We finally got a new(ish) car back in December! We were looking at the Fit but ended up with a Mazda 3 (yay for hatchbacks!). It feels crazy, doesn't it? I've never driven anything so unscarred.
ReplyDeleteYou may have been asked this before but here goes, what kind of camera do you use? Your photos are great!
ReplyDeleteAm totally going to that restaurant when we're next in Tucson (April, I think).
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice trip, and the Fit is cute.
Anon- Thanks! It's a canon rebel. (digital SLR)
ReplyDeleteMouse- not sure which one you mean! they are all GREAT.
Kiwi is going to be so jealous that you went to Beyond Bread... He went to college in Tucson and he is obsessed with the place.
ReplyDeleteohmygod Ben TOO. I mean, beyond bread is good, but it's not like the kind of place i have to visit just cause i am in tucson. It is for Ben.
ReplyDeleteNew cars are kind of the best.
ReplyDeleteSo are your short curls.
Your hair is fantastic! I'm jealous that you can rock the short curls -- mine just turn into a topiary if I go too short.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is from Tucson and his dad still lives there. Your posts always make me want to hop in our car and start driving!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree about Beyond Bread...it's fine, but not amazing. My father-in-law loves it.
Did you make it to Bon?
ReplyDeletelooks like a great trip! you guys are too cute w/ your matching ray bans.
ReplyDeletep.s. love the hairdo!
@rebecca sadly, no. there was little shopping, and i had to have the gift acquired before we went out there. keeping it on the list of next times though!
ReplyDelete@naurnie no! his are small and black, mine are larger and tortoise!
@k don't be jealous. there is SO MUCH my hair can't do. but, thank you. :)
oops :)
ReplyDeletejoe is so proud/jealous about el charro. me, i'm all about your boots and hair, which are lethal. short curls indeed! (how'd ben's mom like the bracelet?) (also, love green flash)
ReplyDelete...sorry, out of webcontact for two days and i'm like a radio between stations.
also, jamie, may i just say that in the first picture of your cute new car, it looks as though you guys hit that tree + now it is leaning?
ReplyDelete@naurnie heehee. maybe we did? and, i was just kidding. our glasses are totally matching. i just try to point out the (small) differences so I wont feel so dorky.
ReplyDelete@lauren. i know, i know. (generally) she likes it, but i am worried it is too big. though it is smallish, she has such tiny wrists that i kept noticing throughout the weekend that it was rotating in what was probably an annoying way for her. :/
yes, i will say that upon second glance, your ray bans do appear to be more 'dylan-esque'... which is a very good thing.
