There was a request for photos from that time that I lived for a few months like a nomad on the beaches of Hawaii. Which I thought was a great idea. So I dug up a bin of old photos in effort to share. Unfortunately in my disorganized hoarding mess I could only find a handful of black and whites. These are those.
But then I decided to share some of my favorites that I came across from those years in general. These are all pretty much from 16 to 19, maybe 20? I was obsessed with cross processing, obv. And my wide angle lens. I don't have a scanner, so bare with me, I took photos of photos. Right there in the top left, that is me. I think we were en route to Colorado.
It's not that all of these are the best photos, but I love them for the memories; pictures of people i haven't seen for the better part of a decade, the emotions they evoke- of the freedom of youth. Road trips. Hot summers. Besties. New places. New experiences. I loved rifling through these, I hope you also enjoy!
Wow, I love these photos! Especially the first ones- the black and white. Just beautiful. :)

ohmygod DUDE. These are GREAT! You were so on the inside. There's nothing better than taking photos of your friends. And during such a free time. We (us youth) didn't know we would grow up. But these photos prove it.
ReplyDeleteperfect selection! just when the sun is finally here in berlin. you should think about making a book, with scetches and little notes. I would definitely want it!
ReplyDeleteThere are so rad!! They make me want to go and adventure some more, but alas my uni essays are calling me. Perhaps I'll call my friends now to organise a road trip... :D
ReplyDeleteAlso, just quietly, black and white photos are the coolest.
These are awesome! It makes me want to go back and dig through my old photos, but they're in storage and at my parents' house (which is like 6 hours away. Bummer.)
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful and so filled with nostalgia. They really capture the essence of being young and fancy free. It is funny to realize that I am not in that phase of life anymore. It has really been hitting me lately. Not to say that once you have a child you can not have adventures and travel. But the spirit of it has changed. Everything is dusted with a layer of awareness and responsibility that was never there for me, before having Jack. I love this new phase, but it is fun to reflect and recall my wayward and wandering days. Thanks for sharing and making me all sappy;)
ReplyDeleteriiiiiiight? so strange.
DeleteThese are really wonderful; it made me want to rifle through my old stuff. I should scan some in before they start to wear out.
