The last remaining eyesore in our house is our couch. I mean, it's not something hideous, but it's far from ideal.  Lately it has been the color and texture that are driving me batty, and I have been tempted to run to the home store and buy a slip cover.  But, slip covers? Meh. I like my furniture to have neat and tidy lines.  A couch a long the lines of this would do the trick:

or this

or this

or even BETTER one of these

Okay. You get the idea. But in the mean time, what to do? I saw this post on apartment therapy, and am thinking I *might* be able to live with some draped linens in the mean time.....

  1. But I love the turquoise couch! If you take that job, do you get to have it??

  2. I second that, the turquoise one is gorgeous! We're also couch-hunting, it's heart breaking. Everything I love is tres expensive, the things we can afford are so meh... Time to go second-hand scouting and re-upholster?
I think the linens are a good temporary solution.

  3. Our couch is so comfy, unfolds into a full sized bed, and it is so ugly. I'm desperate to trade it in for a sweet little minimalist piece, but until we have a spare bedroom for guests, I think we're stuck with it.

  4. turquoise!

our couch is a piece of shit. literally. we need a new one, but can't seem to find something that is perfect. i like the idea of throwing some pretty linens over it now, to prevent the world from seeing the dog hair and general badness.

get a couch like the turquoise one though ... please!

  6. They're pretty but they don't look very comfy. I like a big squashy sofa that nestles by skinny butt.

  7. Comfort-wise, I vote the white one. (Though not, of course, in white. Who is anyone kidding with a white sofa??) I have a similar one in my nyc apt (in a tobacco color) that I love. But the other two are just cushions on a frame! NOT COMFY!!

I don't have pets so maybe I'm not allowed to weigh in... But the slipcover is hideous.

  9. I should clarify. Sadly, I am not shopping for a new couch, hence mostly posting couches with owners. [Yeah, Iv'ed eyed that one b4 nomi] So no, even if I take "the job" I don't get the turquoise one. [Cause we are sposed to use extra money on stuff like, saving for a down payment on a er, home]

    Slip covers so hideous.

    There is no solution here....

Wait, You "have a similar one in your nyc apt" or you "had...." do you, um KEEP AN APARTMENT AND A BUNGALOW? Bi coastal?!?!?

  10. Bicoastal except we can't afford plane fare. But it does sound sexy, doesn't it?

Um yeah, I sublet my furnished studio for three years, but now my mom is using it "part time" and covering the maintenance (read: living there). So... we have a place to stay in new york, but it doesn't really feel like ours since my mom is living there. With her STUFF.
