Happy Voting Day!!!!!!

Californians: Prop 8 is DISCRIMINATION. Please vote no!!!!
And as stated by Rachel
"I also urge you to vote no on 4. I am sure most of us are incredibly blessed, and didn't grow up in abusive or disinterested households, but please keep in mind that many girls do and prop 4 puts those girls in a untenable position."

"According to the Associated Press:
Starbucks is offering a free coffee to anyone who asks for it today.
Ben and Jerry's is giving away a free scoop of ice-cream from 5-8pm. (For the record, they publicly support Obama.)
Many Krispy Kreme stores are giving away a free star-shaped donut.

(It's actually illegal to require proof of voting to receive these freebies, but you should vote anyway!)"

Prop 8 lost. It makes me sick to think an individuals rights can possibly be taken from them. Some men and women have waited for over 20 years to marry their loved ones-finally the California woke up and legally allowed them to do so-and now, that can be ripped away from them. It is discrimination, plain and simple.

It is sad enough to me that gay and lesbian individuals are still not accepted without prejudice in some parts of our society for whatever absurd reasons....but the Constitution of the United States of America should protect the rights of individuals, no matter their race, gender, age, or sexual orientation.

Lets not forget-no matter how crazy it sounds to us now-that there was a time not too long ago when other sections of society were singled out:blacks, middle easterners, asians, women, and others were not allowed to do many of the things we take for granted today.

I am so happy, no ecstatic, that Obama won the election-our country is in need of much change-but at the same time, saddened and disappointed that our country can proclaim the need for change, yet our state still be so backwards and narrow-minded when it comes to the constitutional rights of our fellow Americans! One step forward and two steps back.

I hope that the fog will clear for California soon, and we will be able to see each other as equals, and be free to marry the people we love!
